Megalomaniac Cinema Villains And Their Cats.

They're often presented sitting with a cat on their lap as they plan some villainy.

How do the film producers get the cat to stay where they want it?

Sardines, dreamies, and possibly light sedation although they would vehemently deny this.  However a nice lap under warm stage lighting combined with a bit of reward training would work with an older cat.   Kittens not so much.... Can Just imagine it... Good evening Mr Bond, stop chewing my ear you little#####...

I donl;t think Austin Powers counts because it's a spoof, but granted, I had forgotten that Don Corleone had a cat.

That makes ... er ... two villains, hardly a representative sample I would suggest.

I think there have been a number of 'supervillain"spoofs in sketch shows as well, the cat cliche has become a familiar part of pop culture.   I wonder if it comes from the cat as 'Familiar' rather than just familiar. Or just because no supervillain will ever be as bad as the furry psycho on their lap.
