We've just dug out two old violins of ours, and found most of the strings missing. My mum, who has experience with violins, was able to restring every string except E... I think the fine tuner confused her. Does anyone know how to restring an E string on a violin?

A lot of violins only use a fine tuner on the E string. This is usualy the fist string to break in use & some of the earlyer or cheaper models are held together by string tension so part of it flies accross the stage & is lost! You probably have a bit missing! Good luck!
