Two letters this morning, the first from Virgin Media, telling me bills will rise by 8.8% in April.  EE aren't quite as bad, their prices will only rise by £1.24.

Virgin Media say their rise is the rate of inflation plus 3.9%.

I can understand the rise to cover inflation but why the extra 3.9%?

Greed ?

Or maybe to compensate for leaving customers fed up with the rules and lack of decent customer service.

Wasnt it added to help pay for the network extensions so all could have broadband?

Still very unwelcome though.  VM is getting rediculously expensive but I am stuck with it as a) it is reliable b) I need close to 100% uptime as I WFH and dont get paid if I dont work.

We just had our increase from BT and it's going up by £4.73 a month from April.  It's mid contract so nothing we can do about it.

We had notification from Sky that ours was going up again.  After an hour on the phone it's now reduced by 53 quid a month!!

As I read it, Virgin Media justify the 3.9% bit along the lines of "we’re seeing growing demand for data, so we need to invest in our networks to keep up with customer demand":
