Headaches can be caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side effects, so it is better to modify your
lifestyle. More information available at http://tinyurl.com/q8696

Hi Iam 57 and have had Migraines from my late teens,I have tried lots of medication I now find Zolmitrpan usually works. But like many fellow sufferers once I have been sick it normaly starts to ease off. failing that hot and cold water does help(hot bath-cold water tap in the basin stick your head under till its numb then back into bath,a real bind but it does work).Honest
I have very bad migraines and cant use the pills that you take when an attack comes on as I tend to wake up with mine. I am on Pizotefen from the doctor to reduce the severity and also co-codomol for when the pain gets bad. The best things I have found are Kool n soothe patches. They are brilliant and they stick to your head and stay cold for about 5 hrs. It means no more messing with cold flannels and ice packs and I can even work with one one.
Don't laugh...I have one that really does work but sounds a bit strange. Use you thumb or index finger to do a rolling pressure massage on the top of your big toe. Keep your finger in the one spot just in front of the toenail and put on a bit of pressure whilst making circular motions. I think it must be based on acupuncture, not too sure on that, all I know is that it has saved me a fortune in medicines!
just a note to clarify after the previous post that Migraines are a LOT different to headaches (some people i know dont seem to realise the distinction , for example a former boss of mine!).
I used to suffer migraines frequently and found that it was due to my eating habits. When i didnt have a proper lunch i was more likely to get one after playing sport. I seem to have grown out of them now (luckily) , so i sympathise with anyone who still suffers them!

I take Imigram which was only available on prescription. However, you can now buy them over the counter in a pack of two tablets only. They are quite expensive and I believe that there is a form that you have to fill in on your initial purchase. They really do work though but my advice would be to ask your doctor if they are suitable for you.
