I knew that. I seen it on TV a good while ago and one was put inside a fridge to show how it changed colour.

Purrlease!

A polar bear's skin is black and the fur appears to be white only because the hairs are hollow and scatter light.

Put the cat in the fridge?  Bet it didn't like that.

I knew about the polar bears

That is rubbish!

I've had lots of Siamese cats over the years and they've never turned black.

I've never put them in the fridge, though!

Are you winding us up, barry?

well they pant at 37'C

Their black areas are where they're coldest.

The cat in the fridge wasn't completely black when it come out but it lightened as it got warmer.

I found my cat in the fridge one day.  He wasn't Siamese.

But he was delicious.

OG, he was trying to open a packet of ham.

I put a few bananas in the fridge and they went black too ... eventually

It's only the ears and points that are usually darker in Siamese cats that darken in the cold, not the whole body and it's not black either, dark brown.....

I know the kittens are born white and change colour as they get older because I bred a litter. Then the darker points appear.

But mine certainly never changed after they matured.

Sorry, barry, I still don't beleive it. A lot of the internet is rubbish.

That is a fascinating read, pasta.

I can only speak from personal experience but I do remember after my male Siamese had to have a back leg amputated the fur grew back dark.

Perhaps Cornwall isn't cold enough to affect the colour normally. Certainly warmer than the Hymalayas!
