There's a particular piece of music used on Dali and Bunuel's film. Not Wagner's Liebestod. It's a tango, sounds a bit like Astor Piazzolla, but surely he wasn't alive then.

it's in the original... well, Piazzolla was eight when the film was released (born March 11th. 1921). So might it be Carlos Gardel -- or rather music from his orchestra/band -- who was at the height of his fame and powers at the time, and certainly the best known tango singer in Europe.Related Questions
