(maybe this should be in parenting?) 13 month olds nappy rash isnt disappearing with the normal sudocream, and leaving to air. Its definitely a thrush based rash, is 2 % canesten ok? (Cant get through to doctors, and lost the leaflet from the box)

Canestan works very well. Rub into skin, then a layer of Sudocrem on top.
Banthopen is an excellent nappy rash cream, i would highly recommend it!
Canasten is just fine!
hiya goodsoulette. My children are grown up now but i would like to say that i always used sudocream and only once ever used a throwaway nappy that came free in the post.Ialways used terry nappys and changed nappys so often they never got nappy rash except maybe a little when teething.Today i dont know one person that uses terry nappys, sad really it is so much cheaper and better for the environment.
dont know if they still do it but the best thing i found for nappy rash was a cream called zak used to get it from any chemists, was in a pink tub worked great
This is going to sound a bit daft - but have you tried egg whites?

Separate an egg into a bowl and mix it up a bit (but not so it goes foamy) and put it on your babes bot, if you do this a couple of times a day it is almost guaranteed to work!...the egg has got loads of lovely healing proteins in and if you let it dry before you put a nappy on it creates a barrier on the skin to stop any further rash!

Hope it helps

The egg white treatment is a midwifes remedy that i used many times with excellent results. Worth a try for a couple of days.
metanium cream is excellent, it would clear up my boys nappy rash in a couple of hours. It feels a bit like clay so I mixed it 50/50 with vaseline so it would go on easier. Don't rub it in just smear it on and put the nappy back on. I still use it in summer for heat rash etc. It really is excellent stuff

Thanks for all your answers guys, It was definitely a thrush rash though, hence me asking about whether the strength of the caestan was ok....

will keep all your other suggestions in mind if he ever gets a normal nappy rash.
try something that does not have lanolin in it, my son had the same, emulsifying lotion worked great
