Free "Shopping"?

Today, at a Tesco near here, four men walked in to the store wearing those covid facemasks and each carrying two large shopping bags. They proceeded to fill the bags up with wines and spirits, then walked towards the exit, where they were stopped by a security guard. They said to him: "There's four of us mate, but just you. What you gonna do about it?", to which the guard just stepped aside and allowed them on their way. That's free shopping for you. The four men had also done this earlier at Morrisons' and Boots'. The police won't attend but ask stores to submit CCTV evidence to a police database, where it can all be collated and a case built against the thieves - apparently. Don't know if it'll work though, but I suppose every little helps!

there's a supermarket near me with photos of shoplifters in its windows. Useful for other local shopkeepers, I hope.

Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime or just tough, one of the richest countries in the world, allegedly, can't afford effective law and order forces and surrenders to thuggery, well until it reaches the doors of our masters, then 'something must be done'.
