If a watch cost £2000 about 10 years ago would it be any less or more expensive today.

It depends on the make and model.

A Patek Phillippe, quite possibly, a Mickey Mouse, probably not.

sorry sorry sorry

I meant a 3 diamond ring

bit of a difference - depends on how it was bought and where - retail probably not - through a known contact at wholesale or wholesale +5 or +10 percent, then yes. I have one example of the spread that is made in the business.....

1936 mickey mouse - deffo,

Good watches keep their value - I bought an omega for £45 in 1973 and it is around £500 now

NOT investments - no one wears watches now

PP, it's a diamond ring, not a watch.

JJ, it's impossible to say. Was it bought new from a jewellers? If so, possibly not. The only way to know is to take it for valuation.

I had a ring custom made to my design for my wife for one of our wedding anniversaries. I knew when I bought it was not an investment but it is priceless to us.

I bought her a relatively cheap silver bracelet in the 70s by a Danish silversmith and that is worth a lot more now.

f a watch cost £2000

er yeah OK, how many carets ?  each diamond?

If that was a retail price from a jewellers unless any of the stones were exceptional you may have to wait a few more years to show a profit. £2000 shop retail was probably about £800-1,000 auction value.  If it was £2000 from an auction then that's better. That's the real point from which value changes.  If you post a photo with something next to the ring for scale it would be helpful.

If bought retail 10 years ago it would cost more to buy retail today IMV.

If you're asking for a value for you to sell it that is a different question.

and insurance value is the third assessment ( thx to antiques road show) You are looking at £1000 per caret.

I bought a set of 8 sparklers  (8 Carets) for £2500 and Geoffrey Munn said - god you have a bargain there ! ( didnt get broadcast)
