Carpet Problem.

I need a new lounge carpet..the problem is we have a cat who scratches our existing one( ordinary tufted one) instead of her scratching post hence tufts of carpet everywhere..before this carpet we had a Berber one which seemed better..has anyone had any dealings with this problem & did they solve it?

Have you considered using catnip around the base of your cats scratching post, or better yet; hanging a little pouch of catnip from the top of it, to encourage your cat to reach for it? I suppose it depends how well your kitty responds to catnip, as I know there's a percentage of cats that don't react to it. If your cat does, though, it might help. Also, perhaps spray your carpet with something that would repel your cat (I'm not an expert on the subject, but I'm sure there are some scents that cats wouldn't like that are safe enough to spray on your carpet. Another alternative would be to buy a similar patch of carpet to put over the area your cat scratches, especially for the times when you're not able to intervene before she decides to scratch. Lastly, you can buy these tiny little "caps" to be placed onto each of your kitty's claws, which makes it virtually impossible for cats to scratch everything to ribbons. It doesn't hurt them, but it's not easy to put them on without peeving off your cat, so you might want to have your groomer or vet do it for you. Anyway, hope this helps. 😊💖🐈
