Until just now I’d never drank the stuff, but was curious as to the taste.

For anyone else not having drunk the stuff, it tastes of a carbonated (fizzy) strawberry drink.

With 32mg of caffeine per 100ml; a 250ml can contains no more than a typical mug of coffee.

With a marked recommended retail price of £1.45 (250ml can), no wonder they can afford to run a formula 1 racing team.

How much does a cup of coffee cost?

Question Author

I reckon I get at least 10 mugs of coffee out of a 100g jar costing 99p.

Around £4  now thecorbyloon

Nope, I've never 'got it' either. A few years ago I was driving some mates to Gatwick at silly o'clock in the morning as we were all going away for the weekend, and I said I was knackered. He gave me a Red Bull and it just tasted like sickly sweet sugar water. So, I pulled into Clacketts, and got a black coffee instead.

I had one mouthful of Red Bull, and it was the first and will be last mouthful I'll ever have.

Well you could also  make your own caffeine strawberry flavoured fizzy drink for less than £1.45 if you wanted to.

People drink it with vodka though, which changes the dynamics somewhat. I find it smells (have avoided tasting it) like a sort of berry mix (a bit like blackberry tea bags).  Disgusting stuff.

You could get almost three cans for the price of a bought cup of coffee then.

I read there's about 4mg of caffeine in 10g of coffee which means you'd need to drink eight or nine cups of coffee to get the caffeine in a can of Red Bull.

If you think that tastes bad, have you tried Irnbru?

^^ Made from girders  ...  love it, Hoppy 😊

18 (330ml) cans of Tango (fizzy orange drink) can be purchased for £7.50 from Tesco, which is equal to around 13p per 100ml; whereas 250ml of Red Bull for £1.45 is 58p per 100ml.

no wonder they can afford to run a formula 1 racing team.

In fact, Hymie, they run two F1 teams - Oracle Red Bull (their senior team) and Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team (RB for short, their junior team). They also run a Formula 2 team, a Formula 3 team, and Red Bull Ampol Racing - an Australian V8 Supercars Team. If that's not enough, they own at least four football teams in Europe and the USA and have recently taken a minority stake in Leeds United!

Paid for by idiots

Vile stuff. Tastes like liquid bubblegum.

I used to like IrnBru as a hangover cure. Red Bull is just way too sweet and sickly.

I loathe it, Mr BM loves it with vodka.

Scotland is the only "country" in the world where Coca-Cola is not the best selling soft drink. In Scotland, that honour falls to, yep, Irn-Bru. Also very popular in Asian communities and is the main beverage at Asian weddings. You heard it here first folks! 😄

Oh, and I've never had as much as a taste of Red Bull.

there must 1000s of energy drink brands - anyone tried BUM?😂

Is it peach-flavoured, davebro?
