I've finished the clues, I have the book & author and the other unclueds, but I can't quite get the 3 unclued lights pertaining to the first element in the book's title, so all hints and clues welcome :) I can see what they're likely to be just from the letters, but they're not clicking. Thanks.

They remaining are of a kind with the first element of the title. Look to the stars...

Question Author

Ah yes, I've got it thanks. :)

That had me scratching my head for a while too.

"Suggested by" in the preamble is doing a lot of heavy lifting IMHO.

I am i think in the same position as Fleshpots of Devon.

I have one set of three unclueds for sure-the third element of the title. No bother there. I have the authors name highlighted. I have not been able to link 7D 21A and i have a guessed 17A which i think is C?R?E which is somehting element two might utter?

I have one unsolved clued light which is 4D where i have SC?U? and not sure how this links to 9A which i have solved

21A i have SY?O?A? and 3D where i have ARCH??

And sorry at 7D VIR?I?

JohnP. your U in 4 D is wrong.

17 A isn't a curse, it's someone ( a second part of the theme) who might utter a curse! 21 A is an odd word, and fits in with the second part of the theme.

Thanks

I looked at the other thread and see where i have gone wrong in 17A and how 4D works

Also never new that T?????E was a spot in marble!

So thanks for the speedy help!

JohnP, 7 D goes with 3 D and 30 D. There's a big hint at the start of this thread.

Thank you

I must have 30D wrong which i thought was ECCLES but clearly not

so i have ?C?LES

Will have a look as i see heaven has a role to play now possibly

Yes, it does on that one!

I assume 17A is the one who transformed Ulysses' crew into swine. Is that right?  And 21A Caliban's mother? Thanks for hints for the first element - 'stars' is a bit tenuous, but I see it now, all except for the third element - 29D A?MI??H - perhaps!

Yes, yes and Almirah

It's a shame AZIMUTH doesn't quite fit

jj109, sorry my post crossed with yours which I'm sure will be right as it fits. I don't know the theme so guessed azimuth as it was linked too element and stars

No need to apologise! It was a good guess!

I have done the crossword and so was at an advantage.

The book title has three elements. The third element is what an Almirah is. The second element is what Caliban's mother is. The first element is related to constellations but it is what the constellation is rather than it's name (if that makes sense!)

Yet another challenging puzzle which had me looking at the list of Jeffrey Archer's oeuvre! None of which I have read.  Then the penny dropped, the author is hidden.  Two elements were obvious to me but the first I cannot parse.

Gourami67, I was fine with the first... 'category' when I realised it just wasn't as directly linked as the other two! I think that's why the preamble is worded as it is - 'each one suggested by..' The comment on this thread, by upsetter at 16.17 yesterday, was quite accurate.
