Right, my Writing Group have set a challenging task for a short story this week - the Norton-Disney Do-decahedron, specifically re. who made it, who used it and how? Short, fiction story required by Friday!

I've done a lot of research for background and I've dreamed up a story (taken me 2 days and much wandering).

I would like my title to be a Latin version of:-

The Truthful Sybil.

A swiftish response from out Latin scholars would be appreciated - my Latin isn't up to it.

Thanks all.

The switch from mockney to pseud can be breathtaking.

are you serious that not doing latin or complex maths makes one uneducated?

21:41, no but deriding people that do does.

If you deride 'someone' for 'something', that makes you uneducated?!?

What a very strange thing to say.😂

Please, everyone -this was a simple post in a fairly niche area 'cos I was struggling for a title for a short story......now I can scarcely remember the story I was supposed to be writing!  I must get on with that. :)

What I mean is that deriding something as having no use because in reality you know nothing about it demonstrates an uneducated arrogance. "I don't see the use therefore I will deride those that do". Eg I know nothing about knitting therefore it has no use. Geddit.

What a shame that the best person to answer the question has been suspended ...

That's a right result if ask me. PP should not be on here full stop. Any time we get free of his drivel is good for the site.

I know you find his intelligence intimidating ...

TTT - But you don't know enough to know that Welsh isn't a dead language, whereas Latin is....

Or won't that count? LoL

🤣🤣...Perlease I have never seen any evidence of anything approaching "Intelligence" - all he ever does is write drivel and insult us all, especially the mods. How anyone thinks there is "intelligence" present must be seeing something invisible to the rest of us! Latin? you must be joking! Can you show me any post where anything approaching intelligence is present? I've never seen it!

JTT: "TTT - But you don't know enough to know that Welsh isn't a dead language, whereas Latin is...." - I do, almost no one speaks it, not even in Wales and they haven't got enough words so it's half English anyway! PMSL!

Ah, but that's not the definition of a dead language, is it?

Back in the room. 🤣

> I have never seen any evidence of anything approaching "Intelligence"

Hmm, why could that be ...

ok you seem to be his agent, find me some.

😓

ellipsis, still waiting for samples of "intelligence" from PP.

Tora calling someone dim because you can't see their point of view says more about you than me.

Jourdain thanks for your family history but my children have achieved as much if not more and have never done Latin. One has a PhD in Physics, one is currently working in Japan on Amime. One is a project engineer on multi million pound contracts currently working in Dubai, and the youngest has just graduated with a masters first in computer science and walked straight into a £50k job in cyber security. So I politely have to disagree that learning Latin is an assist.
