Her US Open win was very unexpected. Possibly she was not mentally prepared for the hype and adulation she received and possibly she did not receive the correct advice regarding the Off Court commitments that were thrust upon her. Frequent coach changes also could not have helped and she did have surgery on both wrists and an ankle. Hopefully she will mature into a confident player and person
Andres, I felt you were not fully aware of all the implications of her playing a match late in the evening the night before an important singles match, with a possible wrist problem, before you made the rather crass post, and reading previous comments might help you might better understand the situation.
Haz, to get to the top in any solo sport you have to be single-minded and ruthless. Some players would step over their dying relatives to return a serve if it meant progressing to the next phase.
If Raducanu felt a stiffness in her wrist, she obviously felt doubling with Murray would only make it worse ahead of her singles match. She was probably advised to rest the wrist. As it turned out, she clearly wasn't at her best and whether that was down to her wrist problem, only she knows.
Murray didn't win 3 'slams' without showing some ruthlessness and, i agree with you, we'll never know if he would have done the same in her position. But we can all take an educated guess.
