Turnbull .... is a character from Trollope's Phineas Finn .... ' sought verification of his prophecies' is referring to a quote by him which goes on to use a word which is also the name of this game (try to avoid reading the whole book, so head for Chapter 25! ..... in its own right this is an EVIL game to play .... it is a game of ------------ !

Never understood the dotted line link to Q.47!
the key phrase is 'away from the eye' ..... think sewing implement and a name for the 'other end' (away) of this implement! This 'name for the 'other end' of this implement is also the name for a leisure activity enabling you to thread something onto the canvas!!

Figi. I think we can work that out for ourselves, without your reminders every minute of the day. You may have all the time in the world ,but there are some of us who have other commitments and who wish to enjoy their puzzle ,and the Answerbank now !!!
If you have followed previous Rainbows on AB you will know that most puzzlers have their Quiz completed up to one month ahead of time, and will no longer be participating at the last moment, 2 weeks from the end!
Why not leave the Answerbank to those who want to use for its designated reason, instead of blocking the net with reasons for not using it until the last moment, see previous postings, which have been diverted to other parts of the website by AB Editor. for obvious reasons
If the Answerbank annoys you why not forget about it since you do not seem to need it or perhaps you do for the one last vital clue. Sorry Editor to block up the space

This is a quiz in aid of charity!
The compilers are very charitable in that they charge nothing for folk to read and solve the questions, all they ask is for a donation to their named charity when sending in your entry.I do hope that the biggest whingers on here give the biggest donation.
After all the final result boils down to the luck of the draw, each donator stands an equal chance of winning,
I have always said that if I were lucky enough to be the winner I would donate the money straight back to the charity concerned.
