We have heard a lot on AB of the 14 years of 'Tory misrule' & how we are 'entering the sunny upland of change', but it's also been 14 years of Labour not having to do much other than carp & criticize. Doing something seems to be proving a greater challenge than previously thought.

Starmer is beginning to look like a ditherer, & reminds me of the story of Buridan's Ass, who ends up dying from both thirst and hunger, because he was placed exactly midway between a stack of hay and a pail of water and therefore could not reach a decision.

What has become abundantly clear, very quickly, is that Labour are already sowing the seeds of their own demise.

I feel guilty; but it's nice to see the rightish lot feeling a bit pee'd off because they lost. They do seem to be turning more right-wing radical, which is sad - it does mean that AB politics section is full of boring bitterness. There seems to  be more support for Trump (a Dickensian novel character's name if ever there was one!)

Sunak is not a hardened old politician, and so has a bit of decency about him; he can afford it,after all.

Once again it depends. This time it depends how much they value he country’s soul. For me, as I’m sure you know, no price is too high to pay. Nor would any amount cause me to rethink my position.
