After all, politicians have contributed newspaper articles since as long as I can recall, and, to my knowledge, no serious examination of that has been made.
In any case, even if a biased decision to stop it was made, any politician is perfectly able to use their own channels to set up websites speaking to the public directly. Or even use them to hold debates on the issues of the day. So the whole issue is irrelevant.
