A supermarket must have at least how many checkouts to call itself a Hypermarket?

Is it a EU regulation? Reference would be useful.

EEC Directive 78/172 dated 21 Dec. 1977 defines a hypermarket having a minimum area of 2500 sq.metres.
Article 85 of the EEC Treaty. The definition of a supermarket is 400 sq.m. I suggest that you visit the the European Parliament site for further advice.
