The Price Of Bananas Has Gone Through...

We couldn't believe that our 9 year old is obviously picking up on stuff from the news and media.
She suddenly blurted out, if Putin ends up claiming Ukraine it will be destroyed by that time, so why would you want to claim a destroyed country?
I couldn't answer to that.

at primary school we were in with the children of DPs ( displaced persons) - the kids of course spoke perfect english ( My father used to do consultations in German (!) as a lingua franca - all the DPs (parents) had used German for 5 Years) - and we were up on the Betrayal of Yalta - Poland was handed to Stalin as war spoil by churchill and the cossaks being sent back to their deaths
and it did us no Harm ( keep away from Russians, not a bad rule for today huh)
oh Yalta, first mention on AB - elicited this one-liner from one of the usual suspects
"Yet again Peter, thank you for your input.Anyone out there got an app that can decipher PPs ramblings?"
O god you gotta laught at AB ignorance !
hahahaha and another suggested - "has he mis-spelt Malta?"

lordy ! Rough in the fifties it was
Would it be acceptable for your daughter to call her teacher 'the fat teacher', renegade?
When my children were growing up they seem to have been bombarded by public safety films during children's TV - stranger danger, green cross code, don't play by water, don't play with fire, don't fly kites near overhead cables and pylons, be careful in the kitchen, don't walk on ice, cycle safety, don't throw fireworks,
That Charley just kept nagging.
My daughter came home from school terrified we were going to die overnight because we smoked.
Then there were the posters showing mummy being taken away by a policewoman, a social worker dragging the kids away because mummy had been shoplifting.
All the litter bins had been removed, bags searched going in to the library. They were well aware of the bombings and what our Irish neighbours went through.
I think children are mollycoddled today and many seem to be well in to their 20s.
barry1010,
So does that mean all the old dvds of Thomas the tank engine shouldn't be played anymore due to the Fat Controller still obviously being featured on there.
Since when did children's shows come with a PC warning on them?
Its madness to erase the past in such a way. Besides the use of the word fat wasn't meant to be offensive on the show.
How else are we supposed to describe a person like that, the obese controller? Or the large controller?
Sorry but I think PC has gone mad!
