trilby hat

i have a trilby hat made out of hard wool. does anyone know how i can dye it black

I was going to recommend Dylon cold water dye.The instructions say materials with water proofing which a hat probably has or dry clean only cannot be dyed. These finishes prevent the absorbtion of dye, so you are maybe stuck with the original colour.
