Washing Machine

My washing machine has finally given up the ghost so I'm after a new one.

Any recommendations.

I'm the same vagus...quick wash at 30°. Occasionally I do a higher temperature wash. I really don't need a lot of features and rarely want a 90 minute wash.

There is no way my husband's Tshirts, bedding, towels etc would be clean on half an hour at 30 whatever I put in with it. I probably use most of them to be fair (apart from cotton dry but do use the synthetic dry occasionally and the super hot baby care or eco drum wash now and again).

My washing machine uses more electricity on a 30 minute short cycle at 30 than a cotton cycle at 40. I was shocked when I found out.

We use the hand wash wool cycle for woollens. Hot cottons for towels and bedding.  

My wife uses the delicates for her dry clean only delicates.

I used to use the shirt cycle a lot, we use the pillow setting as needed.

All our towels and bedding are white and come up sparkling at 30 degrees with a scoop of oxy in.

I add a cap full of dettol antibacterial laundry stuff mainly to keep the machine clean but it also kills 99% of nasties in the laundry.

I'm a big fan of Bosch appliances. 

Current washing machine is about 10 years old now.

Currently I'm not using my washing machine at all as I'm using a launderess.  She collects on a Monday and returns it washed, ironed and folded neatly on the Thursday.  I have her once a fortnight, she charges by weight and my bill is usually about £25-£30. Makes quite a difference to my electricity bill.

I have a samsung too, got it from Argos about 3 months ago....the black version....good price and free delivery and fitting

I've got a Bosch Serie 2, had it for several years and it's a great improvement on my previous (Hotpoint) one as regards smooth spinning and stability.

Does anyone rate Hoover washers?  I've just realised my old machine had a depth of 51cm and I think anything much more than that would be a problem in my kitchen. The closest one to it is a Hoover but I've never had one and wondered what are your thoughts.

looking at the enegy ratings, customer ratings and prices of slim depth washers, the best option in terms of value for money seems to be the Hoover H3W492DA4/1-80. John Lewis supply but I dare say it is available at other outlets.
