Am waiting to here from friends who live between Tampa and Odessa - heard nothing yet but it doesn't seem to have been as catastrophic as it could have been. - still bad enough though.

yes, the estimated bill was put at $60 billion before the storm hit but insurance seriously costs.

They can insure against hurricanes.  Some damage - flood for instance - often has to be insured separately though.

Naomi, one thing about the sea at Sarasota, apart from the warmth, is to be in there and have those small birds diving in to get the fish, right alongside of you. Don't know what species of bird they are, but they dive in the sea, arrow straight. Plus the large numbers of pelicans. One year in Sarasota, we were unable to go in the sea because of a pink coloured algal bloom. It stretched for miles.
