A good example would be to take any medium to large town in the UK especially the larger shopping centres and you would be hard pressed to find a family run/ one man band retailer in any of them. They are all owned by wealthy companies, the latter being the only ones being able to pay the high rents because they dominate the market. To be able to dominate or corner any market reduces compition and this in turn enables them to hold or increase prices as they wish. Lack of compition in the market place is, and has always been bad news for the customer. Take Dyson hoovers for another example, greed again, built his company up in the UK, then moved overseas for even more cheaper labour. So wealth no longer generates wealth in my view.
