Very sad, I sent him a wee note to mark the moment.

Tears dry by next week for Whispering Bob, a rare moment of clarity/normality at the BBC.

Never not worth listening to, it was a great final show & I wish him & Tiggy all the best.  Rest up, Johnnie & thank you.

I'm glad the programme's in safe hands with Bob Harris.

He could not picked a better final song! Gets me every time.

Hi Jim!  Long time etc, keeping well?

Apologies to melv...

Yeah, just got so sick of the bullying and egotistical moderation.

I remember listening to him on a thursday during school holidays when he announced the pop charts. Happy days.

👌

I listen to Sounds of the Seventies mostly for Johnnie (or should I say Peter D?)

I won't be listening when the annoying Bob Harris takes over.

I remember the sense of mourning I felt when Johnnie announced he was leaving the drive time show. He is such a brilliant broadcaster and entertainer. I will miss him.

I remember huddling in the school toilets listening to his programme when his show on R1 was broadcast for the last time before he went to the USA. He was unique (I.e. interesting/innovative) among a boring crop of DJs at that time.

A sad day for a lot of people. One of the best!
