The Donald, that is.

Fortunately, the old hooded guy with the scythe will probably intervene before that becomes a problem for America democracy.

//You rate Starmer up there with Hitler and Putin?//

After his start he is showing great promise. Can lie without compunction, totally devoid of social skills, a face that not even a mother would like, shady past and a cover up of early beginnings, secretive home life, surrounded by expectant zealots, and extremely self conscious. He has it all.

Apart from not being a mass murderer at a young age. He's got a long way to go before the likes of you could admire him.

The likes of me? Are you sure about that? I will give you an undeserved minute or so to reconsider that particular snide description.

Alway remember. When I am being theatrically contentious it is deliberate. I am convinced that you are unaware of how obnoxious you are without any effort of aforethought on your part.

Togo; I have the impression that you are strongly pro right-wing and anti left-wing. You said that Starmer is showing great promise at being similar to Hitler and Putin. I then implied that you might admire Hitler and Putin. That was wrong of me.

Do you honestly believe that Starmer is a potential authoritarian dictator and mass murderer? It would be nice to know your view on that.

If I may dip a toe into this?  Starmer has no imagination.

He is a lawyer, conditioned and constrained in his thinking through years of practising his profession.  He thinks in straight, legal lines. This is a disastrous trait in a P.M., who needs to be aware of more subtle shifts, feelings and impacts.

Beause of this I can see what Togo is getting at. Yes, Starmer could find himself following a path that leads eventually to authoritarian dictatorship.  Look at the reaction to the protesters at Southport.  People (not deliberate rabble-rousers paid to undermine democracy) jailed for years because of a tweet!

Anyway, that's my two-penn'orth. The subject is Trump, sorry to interrupt - but Starmer is worrying me.

jourdain. I do worry more about Trump than Starmer. I think that Starmer is concerned with long-term problems such as global warming, which is something that could lead to the end of civilisation (unless you don't believe in it).

Right now I think that there are several issues which could lead tothe end of civilisationas we know it, Atheist. I'm concerned about all of them.

jourdain. I'm concerned about the survival of humans, not civilisation as we know it. Civ as we know it is based on capitalism or communism, democracy or dictatorship  and so on.

BTW jourdain. Always nice to talk to you without too much rancour.

Ditto.  :)

Just to point out to you Atheist you have been a part of the capitalist society you dislike so much, and it seems from your writings its given you a good life.

fripfrip; Thanks for pointing out to me that I am part of a capitalist society: I hadn't realised that before. And your ability to pin me down from reading my few scribbles shows how Holmesian you are. However, I am still concerned about the fate of the human race. I hope you are.
