I agree that this is horrible. I'd ask what you think about the mass slaughter of billions of chickens which suffer in factories. Not pleasant to consider, but it does happen, and they are not treated with much respect or consideration. Admittedly, the perpetrators are not necessarily perverted torturers but the chickens wouldn't feel any happier knowing that.

Atheist - I think a sufficient amount of horror can be generated from the original story with the rights and wrongs of factory-farming being dragged in.

I can't read the story and tend to mute the TV when this is on the news. Despicable. Everyone involved, no matter how tangentially, is despicable.
