I've had a new toilet flush button installed and it has "short" and "long" flush buttons but when I try to push the short one the long one goes down as well.  Has it not been fitted properly?

I have the same button one and it is more about how long you hold tge button in for. A quick push is a short flush but if you push in and hold in for longer it gives a longer flush. Both buttons go in each time.

Great!  Many thanks, Karamia.

We have a toilet with 2 separate flush buttons.

The big one is for a long flush and the little one is for a short flush.

Does yours look like this:

If so, then it probably just needs twiddling to try and release the 2 buttons that are catching on each other.

Try lifting the lid as that may help things become unstuck.

Thanks, Gizmonster, but it doesn't look like this so I  think Karamia's answer has solved it.  (I  don't know how to upload a pic. of it but the small bit is very, very small)!

Ah right, I wasn't sure which system you had.

Glad you've sorted it anyway  :)
