Hope this link works, and I'm wondering if, 'go woke go broke' might not kick in.

(I think you may anticipate what is coming :0)
Yes, one pair of hands was white I the other was black, in other words, 50/50.
I watched the swimming and diving events and did not see a single black person, - not one; the reality being 100/0 🙄

" almost every advert seems to say that they (mixed families) are (the norm)"
I wonder if there any stats about this. I live in west London, and loads of people are brown or have Asian features. And many kids are obviously 'mixed race'.
Also, companies who advertise on the telly do it purely to sell their products, not to make a political or social point.

You will very rarely encounter a black competitor in swimming events, especially at the higher levels. I think the first female black Olympic gold medallist in the pool was in 2016.
There are a number of theories to explain his. One is that in the USA black people were prohibited from using municipal pools during the years of racial segregation. However, that ended many years ago and it does not explain why there are so few from other nations. It talso does not explain why even now, long afer the abolition of the colour bar, it is estimated that around a half of black Americans cannot swim, so that tends to reduce the potential pool of talent somewhat.
I use my local pool and I have to say that I rarely see any black people using it so it may possibly be that they simply don’t like it.

I disagree. It seems obvious (for whatever reasons) that many people object to mixed race families being portrayed as "the norm" and may in fact avoid buying products advertised in this way. I think the firms doing it want to promote their "wokeness", it being the new mantra.
I am not sure why there are so many mix-raced families shown on the adverts, either.
I think we are quite grown-up enough to see adverts featuring single-raced couples.
Watching a black/indian/Chinese, or whatever, family advertising a product is not going to make me decide not to purchase/use the product in question.
