Has anyone heard this word used recently like a new word on the street, not the one you use when you are 'on edge'? I thought I heard someone use it on TV recently but I don't remember what it means?
Edgey means nervous. It's been around for ever. The cutting edge is something entirely different. For example:
in accord with the most fashionable ideas or style; "wears only the latest style"; "the last thing in swimwear"; "knows the newest dances"; "cutting-edge technology"; "a with-it boutique".
1. Nervous or irritable: The performers were edgy as they waited for the show to begin.
2. Having a sharp or biting edge: an edgy wit.
3. Daring, provocative, or trend-setting: an exhibition of edgy photographs; an edgy menu.
in scotland we say keep the edgey which means to us to sort of keep the look out when you are doing something you shouldnt be and someone is looking out for you, used the saying alot when i was younger teehee...
