I took advantage of the mix and match 5 for a fiver in Morrisons and have to ask, who decided to change the lentil and oxtail recipes?

Not what I remember at all.

Haven't had oxtail in decades, but it's not easy to find a decent lentil unless it's homemade

Not me guv'nor, honest 😁

What happened ? Did they change the oxtail to ham, and the lentils to peas ?

I only use tinned soup to add to sauces. Mostly the mushroom & chicken.

The lentil used to be smooth and the oxtail rich and dark.

Lentil's now more like a Dhansak sauce and the oxtail lighter and seriously lacking tail.

Time to get the big pot on the go I think.

That's a good deal. Shame some of them doesn't taste the same!...

I bought myself a tin of Heinze Carrot & Coriander today. I quite enjoy that one.

Bramwell's Chunky Vegetable Soup with a pinch of paprika and splodge of chilli sauce added takes some beating. Available in all good Aldi stores. I like to dip toasted wholemeal pitta in it - very satisfying.

Heinz oxtail is like their tomato - standing on its own! I'm so sad if it's been chabged, Sacrilege!

Gosh- is that considered a good deal? £1 a tin.

I always make my own soups. I can get a pan full which serves 3-4 for less than £1 in total.

I won't touch Heinz soups, they're horrible.  Baxters for me.

I just knew that we would get "I make my own".

Yes, and you can make your own pizza (or buy in), fish and chips (orbuy in), chilli (or buy in) etc.

It's called "choice" and it's not all about cost.

A chef I once knew told me he secretly used Baxters royal game soup to bolster many of his much admired dishes.
