Some seem unclear. Bitcoins are initially earned by running stuff on a PC, and were much lower value at the start. He didn't spend £4M, he will have "mined" for them.

 

And, no, electronic money isn't physical, you can't put it in your pocket. Like you can't put your credit card money in your pocket. It's all figures on your screen that others are willing to trust. (So a bit like banknotes in that respect, it's all trust.)

What a bloody idiot - he gave his consent when he put it in the bin for them to collect.  If he's telling the truth (which I have serious doubts about), then he really is an absolute plonker.

I am reminded of a verse from Lonnie Donnegan's old song from the Sixties, My Old Man's a Dustman  :-
