Just decided to watch Googlebox on channel 4, and theres a guy taking up quarter of the screen doing hand signals for the deaf watchers. 

 

How on earth do I turn this off or watch it without? It irritates the hell out of me.

Its really quite obtrusive for people who don't need the reader 

Don't watch that programme, but sometimes a program (various channels) is repeated with a signer.

It looks like Channel 4 might have made an error by accidentally showing the signed edition rather than the regular one.  The only editions of Gogglebox with signing this week are meant to be on E4:

You can't turn signing off when the signed edition is shown. The regular version might be available for streaming though:

You tape a piece of card over that quarter of the screen.

Or black out areas on your glasses lenses and sit very, very still.

Hang a scarf over that section of the screen.
