Why Does It Take So Long?

Why does it take so long before I can have an avatar on here?

I joined on Sun 17th Dec 2023, just under a year now.

It seems a bit strange to me why we have to wait so long.

^^^ The link is made SOLELY via your email address. 

Therefore it's absolutely ESSENTIAL that the email address you use to register with Gravatar is the SAME one that you used to register with The AnswerBank.

i.e. when you post on The Answerbank, AB's server looks up your email address and finds that it's, say, [email protected].  It then sends a query to Gravatar, effectively saying "Have you got an avatar associated with [email protected]?", to which Gravatar then replies "Yes, here it is" and sends it to AB, so that it can be displayed alongside your post.

So check which email address you've got registered with AB.  (If you've forgotten, go to 'view your profile' and then to 'Edit My Profile').  Then check which email address you've got registered with Gravatar.  If they're the same, your avatar should show up.  (If they're not, re-register with Gravatar, using the correct email address to link up with your AB account).

PS: Gravatar sometimes asks users to assign a 'rating' to an avatar. If you encounter that, choose 'G', as the system is based upon the one used for US movie classifications (where their 'G', for 'General', is equivalent to our 'U', for 'Universal').

My guess is that your email address on woedpress/gravatar is not the one you have on answerbank.

Well heres the thing, I had to use a different email address for Gravatar to my Answer bank account, because when I tried registering my Gravatar account it says my Answer bank email address is invalid, and I should use a valid emsil address, which confused me as I use it all the time. I'm puzzled why Gravatar is saying its invalid, but explains why I am having problems with my avatar.

 

So my next question is can I change the email I use for Answer bank so it matches my Gravatar account? As I obviously can't do it the other way round.

Yes, click 'view your profile top right of this page, then click 'edit profile'.

Just create  your  gravatar avatar then as long as you use the same sign in for here and gravatar it comes over automatically. You don't have to do anything here, the interweb fairies do it.
