Just stumbled across an old question here asking about the meaning of cotchel.

OFAH flashed through my mind, I could hear Boycie saying it, with the second syllable drawn out - I've got a cotchel of...

Anyone know if I'm right? I know there are a few die hard fans here

Something left over

Question Author

I know what it means, thanks, I phrased my question badly. I'm asking if it was said in OFAH

Uncle Albert : Have you ever thought about joining the navy, Rodney?

Rodney : Well, funnily enough, Unc, *no*! How could I join the navy?

Del Boy : Exactly. In the old days they'd take anyone - well, they took you! But nowadays, you've gotta have a cotchel of qualifications.

Thanks, Scorpio.

I don't believe I've heard it anywhere else

Welcome, barry.

This is the first I recall coming across the word. What part of the UK knows it ?

A something left over of qualifications ?

It's from London's east end, apparently, OG.  I took no notice until I stumbled across an old post in the early hours and immediately thought of OFAH.  I could hear it clear as a bell.

Cheers.

The phrase is used in "The frogs legacy" ...... BTW del says "Codgel" in keeping with his tendency to mis pronounce words:

"Rodney – Del, the gold has been missing for twenty four years. The last thing anyone saw of Freddy the Frog was on a radar screen, so what chance have we got?

Del – He must have buried it somewhere local. I mean he’d stick to an area he knew well. I tell you what we’re gonna do. I’m gonna see the flower man in the market and get us a codgel of tulips on sale or return. You’re gonna visit every graveyard and cemetery in the district and check the name on every headstone. Leave a flower on each one as if you’re a relative."
