//Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Friday that he hopes Syrian rebels will continue their advances against president Bashar al-Assad’s forces in Syria, reports Reuters.

Speaking to reporters after Friday prayers, Erdoğan said he had still not received a positive response from Assad to a call he made earlier this year to meet and normalise ties.

“The advances of the opposition are continuing as of now … Our hope is that this walk in Syria continues without any issues,” he said.//

These 'rebels' are Islamic terrorists.  Your thoughts?

Couldn't  care less if muslims are killing each other.

The problem is though that they are not just killing each other. Aleppo was home to the largest Christian community in Syria and possibly any of the muslim dominated middle east countries. What chance their survival? No protests have been heard lamenting their fate or continued suffering.

Of course you wont Togo, they are not virtue signalling material.

It is difficult to know who is the worst in the Middle east though.  I think we just have to let them get on with it and to the victor the spoils.  And good luck hangon on.

@11.57.Didnt Syria also have one of the biggest Jewish populations in the middle-east?I wonder if it remains such?

As I mentioned in an earlier thread. With any luck the two might get rid of each other. In any case there is no clear group capable of running the place that we'd want to support.

Turkey is now showing its true colours.  It was once pro-western, now it is an enemy of the west.  Many Christians and Jews in Turkey.  Their futures are now very dubious.  I hope that we shall welcome them as refugees - but somehow I doubt it.

I've today received quarterly report from Medecins Sans Frontieres who work in the war zones.  Wonderfully inspiring but terribly depressing. Illustrating the best and worst of humanity.

They've reached the suburbs of Damascus now.

Ten posts in a day and a half suggests not many give a flying one.

Probably all been said in earlier threads.

It's not like much has changed recently, no new allies for either side, just continual advancement by the rebels.

Seems PP got the message at long last!🤣
