If you are lucky they don't but it really depends on how quickly you grow. Stretch marks are caused when the skin has to strech suddenly due to you suddenly growing. So they might not appear.
I agree. I was very slim and a stretched a lot but I didnt get any marks. You may be lucky. Some people rub certain oils onto their bodies but I m not sure which ones, good luck.
i made it to about 36 weeks without any marks. My son then decided to say inside til 42 and a half weeks and grow to be a 9lb 7ozs bruiser and no amount of moisturiser could stop the marks.
Mind you theyve faded quite well since he was born
I still say it depends on the individual. I was quite slim and my baby was 9lb 8ozs (aaha beat you!) and my body is pretty crap now but I still have no stretch marks.
You could try a product called Bio oil to help. You can get it in places like superdrug and boots. You are supposed to use it before the stretchmarks appear. Good Luck
My Mrs is very slim, both before and after a nine pounder and has no stretch marks - she puts it down do a special moisturiser she found advertised in one of the baby mags. I have no idea what it is called, but it was 35.00 a bottle and lasted two weeks.
Still, just about the best 700 we've ever spent because (this is just a personal opinion - sorry) I think stretch marks are hideous: right up there alongside varicose veins.
Hi, I rubbed olive oil into my bump and round my hips and thighs and got not one stretchmark! This is the done thing in our family passed down to me by my mum....seems to work....and cheaper than Bio-oil.
My daughter has stretch marks around her boobs and hips where she gained rapid weight as a teenager(not through pregnancy) and yet I never got any during pregancy and I stretched much more.
She uses bio oil to and the doctor told her that exercise will help tone. She is not at all overweight and it must be all down to personal elasticity of the skin.
I thought I was going to be so lucky - I didn't have any until right at the end of the pregnancy, then up they sprung. I was gutted. Five years later they are still there but not too bad. I wouldn't worry too much. Most women get them and I can honestly say that mine don't bother me anymore!
I think a lot of it is due to pure luck and having a certain type of skin.I have had 4 pregnancies and not a single stretch mark. With my last child they even brought round a load of med students to my bedside in hospital and asked them to guess whether it was my first pregnancy or not by looking at my tummy - they all got it wrong.!
If you do get them though I believe that they do fade with time, and moisturising certainly wont do any harm.
I didn't get any stretch marks til about 35 weeks so thought I'd got away with it! However, they weren't too bad and are very faint only 8 months on. I used cocoa butter twice a day throughout my pregnancy and after my daughter was born.
My stretch marks didn't appear unil I was 38 weeks but then BOOM!! I seemed to get them overnight - I wasn't particularly huge nor was I particularly slim beforehand.
I think it just depends un person to person - check you mum out as the elasticity of your skin is supposed to be genetic!!
Bio Oil is supposed to be good for stretch marks - its about 8.99 for a bottle but you only need a tiny amount.
I had two 9lb 5oz babies within 18 months and no stretch marks at all. I was very lucky. With a bit of luck you wont have any at all. Congrats on your pregnancy too.
