This applies to their leather boots for winter use and fabic ones for the summer months. You definitely need to try them on before buying and may need half a size larger than you get for your shoes.
Scarpa, Lowa, Meindl are top brands but are expensive
A few examples:
Scarpa Mens Terra GTX Boots £195 https:/
Meindl womens boots £225 https:/
For a good budget boot I have started using Karrimor Skiddaw Mens Walking Boots for training, £120 direct from Karrimoor https:/
Sports Direct sell them for £59,(and you can try them on in the store) https:/
(one minor prob with the Karrimor is the middle lace eyelets sometimes break off but no biggy)
As mentioned by 1581960, it is very important to try on before buying as boots seem to have got smaller and tighter over the last few years.
Walking boots can be a personal thing as what might be a good fit for one person might not suit another and there are so many choices nowadays.
Hi Maydup, In my experience wet weather boots are more water resistant than so-called waterproof boots but you can get them. Many (UK) combat soldiers, for example, would perfer to use water resistant than waterproof to help prevent over sweating and to slowly release excess water.
You could try boots with a GORE-TEX lining to enhance waterproofing and is great three-season solution as G-Tex is breathable . Good boot care is obviously important and using a good dubbin/wax will keep your feet dryer for longer in wet conditions (and keeps leather boots softer).
If you experience aching feet while walking try having a look at a few youtube videos of different ways to lace-up boots. If say I was going over the steep Brecon Beacons with often harsh terrain, I don't lace up the middle section of my boots which makes ankle movement easier.
Many people whose jobs involve walking a lot enjoy Rockport. They are great for comfort, durability, style, and being weatherproof. https:/
