On a less personal note, Bill Hicks remains one of the biggest inspirations of my life and if I'm ever feeling cr@p, listening to him tends to put it all in to perspective.... again, I don't want to say why.
(Jenna, sorry for the lack of 'whys' but y'know... quite a private person really, even on annonimous (sp) websites! Sorry xx)

My Dad's best friend Calumn, who took me under his wing after my Dad died when I was little. He'd always suspected that something was not right at home for me, but couldn't believe his friend was capable of what he did to me. After he died I told Calumn exactly what had been happening and he was horrified, but never doubted me for a minute, just listened and then went and had a terrible scene with my mother whereby he said he was going to be in my life from heronin to make sure everything went ok for me from there. He never went back on that promise, took me to the fair, sailing, fishing, to footie etc and has always been the best surrogate father to me that anyone could ask for and is a great Grandad to our kids. 100% brilliant man.

My parents.....just cos!
My nonna...she came to this country from Italy at 16 with her new husband, couldnt speak a word of English and didnt know anyone here except her in-laws, she opened a Cafe in Partick, Glasgow and ran it with her husband and made it a huge success while raising 2 children. They then went on to open fruit shops and delivered Ice cream all over glasgow. My nonno(her husband) died when he was 50 of a heart attack(2 weeks before my Mum's wedding) and she continued with the businesses on her own.She is such a strong woman and is always ready with sound advice. She lost her son last year which hit her very badly but she never gave up. She has 12 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren and you wouldnt think to look at her she was 85...she is amazing and definately my inspiration!

Ditto to Dot's comment - people must be worn out listening to me saying "as Mammy/Daddy would say" . I also had the most amazing counsellor for a couple of years. She's a nun, but not a holy Mary nun. She helped me deal with an issue that shaped my life in a certain way and now I'm free of the hold that it had on me. The changes she helped me bring about in myself were subtle but life altering nevertheless. She is gifted and I am indebted to her.
