Tonight was shepherd pie and loads of sprouts, the shepherds pie was a Costco one retrieved from the freezer and the sprouts were from Sainsbury's and delicious.

Just heating/cooking a Sainsbury's bread and butter pud, had it before and it's almost as good as homemade, not up to much homemade cooking lately so these have come up trumps for us tonight.

probably be in bed within the hour with a full tum 👍

barmaid; do you fry your chips?

Yes, Atheist.  I had started doing them in the air fryer, but Mr BM doesn't like them so I have had to un-retire the deep fat fryer.

I had what atheist had but from the freezer as I'd batch cooked it a couple of weeks ago. Black beans are my new favourite; they go in everyone at the moment from stew to salad.

Sorry folks, what are red peas?. Are they another name for red kidney beans?

I just had a quick Google...it looks like red peas and kidney beans are the same? Anyone with more precise information?

Rosetta, yes folks from the Caribbean call kidney red peas, red peas or just peas.

Red peas sounds nicer 😉 My favourite are black eyed peas. We often had them when I was home as my dad was from the south.

I used a tin of black beans, liquor and all, and the stew was very dark and muddy. Doesn't bother me, but I think I'll stick to white (haricot) or Borlotti in future so I don't lose the fun of the colours of the veg. Green (cabbage, green peppers, courgette) red or yellow (peppers if used), white (potatoes) and so on.

Ahhh I drain mine Atheist.

Last night we had steak pie, chips and peas. Today it's roast chicken and all that jazz.

Ok so now I want a roast chicken dinner with all that jazz, not going to happen though 😢

Barmaid, a good opportunity to do a one tray Sunday roast, the one with cider vinegar and honey is delicious, makes its own gravy and doesn't involve water at all 😋
