open another account - go to gmail.com or hotmail.com or yahoo.com and sign up for a new account

send an email to <this username of mine> @gmail.com and I'll send you an invite for there. Best webmail provider I've used.

Depends on your internet service provider. For Tiscali go to their main web site and you can set one up there. I assume it may be similar for other providers. You then have to add this extra address to your computer via the 'tools' in your e-mail handler.

If you set up an email address with your ISP and then decide to change providers then your email address will disappear when you go to the new company.
One reason to use an address that's independent of AOL or NTL or Tiscali etc.
