I like my sofas, I like the style, they are comfy and the cushions are firm.  Wondering whether to use Plumbs to re-cover them.  Have you used them, would you recommend, and do they take the sofas away to cover them?  Thanks all.

have you worked out the price? in my (very very limited!) experience, it wont be cheap, and throws might be bettr

Loose covers - not reupholstery - I think they will measure up in situ & come back to fit them. It won't be cheap.

//Price Guide ; Armchairs from £150 ; Wing chairs £220 ; Sofas £195 to £230 ; Sofa beds £225 to £255 //

I would second having loose covers, have done so in the past. Also you might find a firm locally that will supply them. When I contacted Plumbs they did not anyone available in my area, (Wolverhampton).

Mrs JtH and I built a large U-shaped seating unit in our Snug. We bought foam cushions for the seat and back (8 x seat; 10 x back). We went to Plumbs (in Preston) and picked the swatches to take home. Once we had decided to go ahead, they sent a chap to measure each cushion individually and then he gave us a price.

We signed up and 6 weeks later he revisited us to fit the covers onto the cushions. We are delighted with them - the material, the quality and the fit.

We couldn't recommend them highly enough!

Thanks all, £230 each sofa quite cheap, and thanks Jack for your help

My mum n dad had a favourite sofa recovered a few years back by plumbs and it cost  over £1000 but they discovered the local upholstery store they had used for the job. They are currently having an armchair  recovered and have gone direct to upholstery company. Will cost £700 just for one armchair.

I will get a price from Plumbs and then decide. How can I tell if the cushions will be nice and firm and won't sag, if I look for a new one?  Which company would you recommend?

I have had my foam cushioned 4 seater sofa with love seat (2seater) for over 10 years and they have never lost shape and stayed firm always springing back. I tend to sit in same spot on sofa but no sign of any permanent dent. Mine was from SCS over 10 years ago. I have bought from DFS in past too. I like to shop around, but would always go fir foam filled cushions in future.
