Farmer may wait to see fellow till after one (10,5)                    ?L?U?H?A?S ?U?C?.  Well, it can hardly be anything other than PLOUGHMANS LUNCH, but I can't crack the parsing despite several half hints :- A Ploughman can be a farmer, A fellow can be a man, after one could be the afternoon.......  I'm ashamed to say I even looked up SLUNCH in the dictionary in case I was missing something !

I was also stuck parsing it. But maybe you just take the whole thing as a clue: "Farmer may wait to see fellow (man) till (plough) after one (after one of these)" i.e. farmer may have to wait until the ploughman has had his lunch to see him ploughing.

'till' can mean to plough, lunch might be after one!

Thanks a lot for writing, Dhof.  I think you're absolute right and had come to the same conclusion myself arter realising (as you say) that "after one" could mean after one of these (i.e. ploughman's lunches), but I was hoping for a response or two to confirm my thinking.

I had more or less given up when, Bingo, you made your post ! Thanks again.
