We are a close-knit, trusting, caring family - Mr and Mrs Arrods and their two married sons.  Have started to do our Financial LPA (don’t think we need a Health one).

Us two will be our respective attorneys and both sons will be the replacements (acting jointly and severally).  Can’t think of a person to notify (at present) and have no preferences or instructions.  The forms took about 10 minutes to complete, given the foregoing.

I see no need to go through a solicitor.  What could possibly go wrong?

Thanks Bednobs.  Yes, the online system is very straightforward and won't let you proceed without a certificate-giver and there are reminders about the need to register.

What could possibly go wrong – if both of you became incapacitated, then between them, your sons would have total control of both your finances.

I thought that was the point Hymie.

You need a lot of  trust in your sons or maybe their wives.

We had one for dad, solicitor told us it's usually the children's partner, be it wife or husband who upset the job, grasping for money.

We did all of ours ourselves too.

Please think about the health one, we hope it will never be needed but it can be expensive and messy if it's not done while you have mental capacity
