I see it everywhere, on footballers, cricketers, rugby players and around where I live: men with fairly short hair, but shaved about an inch round both ears and down the back of the head, leaving a bizarre short sort of mullet.

Where has this come from and how has it spread so fast?  Does someone famous have one of these haircuts and everyone is copying him?

It comes about through barbers getting together to shear the sheep that walk through their doors. Folk want to express their individuality by being the same as everybody else.

The stubble thing is similar, scruffy and unwashed looking is the new(ish) cool.

brainiac, a friend and I were talking about that last night and how awful it looks.  I asked him if he was going to have one and he was most insulted.

Glad I'm not he only one who's noticed, ladybirder!

Didn't it start with Peaky Blinders?

Question Author

No, definitely not  a Peaky Blinders cut - this is something different

Can you post a link to an image of it?

🤣Well it didn't came from Boris Johnson🤣Did it. lol.

I remember seeing something like that.

I just assumed they'd suffered a power cut in the barbers when they were part way through and that the patient had to get back to work (or to the bookies in time for the 2:20 at Uttoxeter).

Thanks for the link, brainiac

Not a good look. Modern times eh?

Is it a low taper fade? They'remassive at the moment

Looks derivative of Peaky Blinders to me.

I think it is, Canary.

It's called fashion! It's the latest fashion.

Footballers nowadays seem to all take their inspiration from Kim Jong Un with that squared cut over the forehead.

Question Author

Maydup - it obviously is  the latest fashion, but my question was where did it come from?  Who started it?

The fashionistas

Who started the trout pout/duck lips trend?  Surely not Lynne Perrie, she's the first one I saw with that look
