//Google has become the latest big US firm to scrap its goals to recruit more workers from underrepresented groups, BBC News understands.

The decision to abandon the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) recruitment targets comes after the company carried out an annual review of its corporate policies.

The technology giant is also reviewing some of its other DEI programmes.

US President Donald Trump and his allies have regularly attacked DEI policies. Since his return to the White House just over two weeks ago, Trump has ordered government agencies to eliminate such initiatives.//

It seems it just needed someone with the courage to say it like it is and start the ball rolling.  Let's hope the rest of the western world follows suit.

It is if you are being 'told' to park your personal feelings at the door.

It's extremely disrespectful to expect blanket and silent compliance.

"It is if you are being 'told' to park your personal feelings at the door."

this seems like quite a resonable request for a professional environment to me. i do so whenever i start work.

Since the men pretending to be women are the people at odds with reality, perhaps they should be the ones required to park their personal feelings at the door.

also i might be wrong jackthehat but i could have sworn you told me somewhere that you had no objection to transgender people going about their business outside of their involvement in sports or access to women's facilities

seems however that you do in fact object to having to work with them too! and guess what--transgender people need to work just like everyone else.

how quickly the goalposts move.

well you see that's an opinion naomi... and i would argue it's not one that an employer has any business forcing on an employee. an employer does however have every right to expect people to work together where they are required to do so.

you seem to view the very presence of transgender employees as an imposition. and i would argue that is an excellent justification for DEI initiatives... to counteract people who seek to drive their fellow citizens out of the workplace.

Except those expected to park their personal feelings at the door.

The rest of the world shouldn't be required to shift to accommodate the foibles of the few.

every employee is expected to do that surely?

Question Author

To do what?

park their feelings at the door.

Question Author

Except those who are not required to park their feelings at the door.

i don't consider "i don't like transgender people" to be a valid feeling to bring into the workplace tbh. maybe things were different a thousand years ago.

Who said that?  Only you as far as I can see.

What I said was that I have no problem with men 'presenting as women'.

If Harold wants to dress in a frock and ask me to call him Belinda, I would. However, I wouldn't call him 'her/she' nor would I accept seeing him using any Womens' facilities.

And why can't a Transwoman 'park his feelings at the door? Or is it only everyone else who has to make the accommodation?

Just wait until they start charging for the parking, this will all go away.

Unfortunately, the UK seems hellbent on pressing on with this nonsense, at least in our universities:

Terrific posts from Jackthehat.

because being trans isn't a "feeling". you can't ask someone to leave their existence at the door... but you can ask people who are offended by that existence to do so.

Of course, it's a feeling. Men decide that tghey know what it 'feels' like to be a woman.

It has absloutely nothing to do with biology - men cannot become women.

I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to upset a Transwoman unless I believed that he was taking the proverbial.......and then I think I would be well within my rights to bring this to his attention.

The affectations of attention seekers are not my problem.

Please use the facilities designed for your current genitalia.

Thanks.

2.52pm - spot-on. It can only ever be their personal interpretation of what a woman is; they can never know what it is like to be proper woman.
