Weird Thing Happening - Anybody Come Across This Before?

Really weird - okay my Asus is ancient and I'm awaiting a fairly substantial bank credit from the Pensions folk to arrive on my account and a new laptop with Windows 11 will be purchased.

Meanwhile, has anyone seen this before and know how to 'cure' it? At sign-on for opening my screen and, indeed, occasionally opening a window, I get a sequence of quickly-flowing full-stops running across the input box. To stop it, I have to hit Esc and then get the cursor half-way down the line or so and then hit the back-arrow button.  Occasionally (too often), the screen is also freezing up and I can't do anything or open a new window until I have either brought up 'latest news' from over the box at the bottom that hilites temperature or exchange rates etc - or hit the on-off button but without immediately closing it and this breaks the log jam.....

Yes I need a new laptop - no need to tell me that but the question is if there is a solution that works for a couple of weeks to a month until I see the dosh on my account?

Is there any gunk under the keys? No problems with typing?

could be, barry......not confident of removing the . keys without causing a breakage of the clips,,,,

I don't know how installing a different OS will cure physical problems with the keyboard. If it's an out of date driver, that can be updated in the current set up
