Net or Gross Salary

When a job is advertised and the salary is stated. Is the amount the net or gross salary for the job?
Thinking of a change in career,but slightly reluctant to take the drop in wages, so would like to gauge before I apply what this wage is against my current job.

Advertised figures are always gross. If you want to know the net pay, you can use an online calculator, like this one:

Always gross - and take care where salary advertised is followed by OTE (on target earnings) - this indicates the possible gross BUT only when you're really experienced etc.
