Just had a lovely surprise regarding buying home and contents insurance. My renewal quote for 4 bed detached came through at £340, so I went on comparison site and found one with same cover at £272, but then when I continued through to payment, the price dropped by another £50 down to £222 !!

Obviously I am very pleased with this price but no idea why this happened - can anyone explain the drop in price from comparison site to actual insurance site?

Surely more customers would use if price was going to be cheaper, so why hide it?
