//Successive governments trying to look "tough on crime" have driven the rising prison population which forced the early release of thousands of inmates last year, a review suggests.

The report by the Independent Sentencing Review found governments over the past 25 years jailed more criminals, despite evidence it does not prevent re-offending.//

It might not prevent re-offending in the long-term - but it prevents re-offending whilst they're banged up!

So what's the answer?

Build more prisons, employ more prison staff.

Those on the  Independent Sentencing Review  need sacking.

Seems there is plenty of room for political prisoners.

And if we need more room then send the foreigners home to serve in their own country - and ban them from returning.

It seems to have by-passed them that increasing the polulation so quickly (even ignoring the fact many illegals are criminals especially Albanians) means infrastructure nees to correspondingly increase.  In this case prisons.

what political prisoners?

Agree with building more prisons, but I think retaining the prison staff is always going to be a problem.

Parachute prisoners onto a remote island or 3, mine the waters to prevent  boats arriving or leaving, no need for prison staff.

Simple answer is to FM it out, helps us, helps them

I favour Turkey or Thailand although Equador seem to know how to run a jail too.

stalin tried that alba. the people sent there all ate each other or starved.

if i said that i'd get called a stalinist lol

can you name any political prisoners in the UK youngmafbog?

Untitled, we could at least do a monthly food drop.

Drop live chickens they'd have fresh eggs and a weekly roast :))

It' s the police's fault - they keep catching criminals!🤣

Only for NHI's  davebro.

Seen the stats on burglary and shoplifting?

We did used to send our crims away, trouble is a load keep coming back 🤣

no political prisoners come to mind then? did you just make that up?

id let the prisoners eat eachother on that island, mm lord of the flys, we could send all the illegals there as well, happy days.

build more prisions make them harsher.

Strict regulations enforced by correctly trained officers. Prisoners responsible for their actions.

the past 25 years jailed more criminals, despite evidence it does not prevent re-offending.//

yup wise words

50% releasers ( what det den etc) reoffend at 60%

40% releaserw reoffend at....60%

ergo early release doesnt work

( reflects figures from 1970 whe I was writing my criminology examns)

( AB screams triumphantly - (oh he's a cfiminolgist now!")

build more prisons make them harsher.

pull their fingers nails and then cut off their fingers 0 end of ! pun intended

o the joy to be back with the pack on  AB !

no need for more prisons, there is a large area just a bit higher up, sparsley populated maybe a few penquins. give back  the boat they came on and a pair of wellies good to go.we will need  to remotely detonate the boat so there is no way back
