Any recommendations for energy suppliers? We've been with Octopus for quite a few years but have moved and now looking at other suppliers, It's very confusing.

The vast majority of UK households are paying at the 'price cap' rate, so it's unlikely that switching suppliers will help you.

However here's the place to start looking, anyway:

I'm with Octopus on a 15 month fix having been moved from First Utility to Shell to Octopus. No complaints so far.

I like Octopus. Have you gone off them?

What to look at is the standing charge and the kWh rate.

Ignore all the "save xxx" - thats based on an estimated figure.

To get an idea of what you'd pay pick a figure eg. 10kWh.  Multiply the rate by this 10, then add the standing charge.

You might find that supplier A has a higher standing charge but lower rate (or vice versa) than supplier B.  If you use the same figure and calculation you'll see the difference between suppliers in real terms.

I assume the same logic would work for gas - I'm electric only, no gas supply here.

I'm not sure why anybody would want to move from Octopus...a Which? Recommended energy supplier for several years. By moving, you may get your energy a bit cheaper - but get awful customer service when things go wrong.
